Mariarano

The Mariarano Mangrove Restoration and Conservation Project is a collaborative effort designed to restore the degraded mangroves and conserves a large primary forest within a complex system of mangrove estuaries. These and other nearby forests are noted for their high diversity in both flora and fauna with many of the trees representative of old growth forest. Collectively the Mariarano Restoration and Conservation Project is an extraordinary mosaic of mangrove, raffia, transitional coastal forest, and Malagasy dry forest.
The forest’s value to the local community, local wildlife, and science cannot be understated. Our collaborative restoration effort at Mariarano extends locally and globally with an extensive list of stakeholders who collectively support the project’s longevity, transparency, and accountability.
