Maasai Mau

The Maasai Mau Forest Restoration and Livelihoods Project spans approximately 4,000 hectares within the Maasai Mau block of the Mau Forest Complex in Narok County, one of Kenya’s most critical water towers. This forest supports major river systems feeding Lake Victoria and the Mara River, sustains biodiversity, and underpins regional agriculture and community well-being.

Implementation of this project is through Guardians of Nature and People, the Kenya Forest Service, the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, Narok County Government, and local Community Forest Associations.  Whom together with ARC are implementing holistic programs which combine reforestation, assisted natural regeneration, agroforestry, and even apiculture which restore balance to both forest and community.

By restoring the forest and supporting local economies, Maasai Mau creates lasting benefits for youth, women, and communities inviting participants to be part of a thriving, resilient landscape that delivers ecological, social, and economic rewards.
