180° Madagascar
Madagascar is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth—a magical island rich with natural wonder, breathtaking beauty, and a cultural heritage found nowhere else in the world. Known as the “eighth continent,” this remarkable island is the fourth largest on the planet and home to an astonishing diversity of landscapes, from lush rainforests and towering canyons to serene lakes, sweeping savannas, and pristine mangrove coastlines.
It is the only place on Earth where lemurs leap through ancient forests, towering baobab trees rise like giants from the earth, chameleons display brilliant colors among the branches, and rare orchids bloom in remarkable abundance. Around every corner, Madagascar offers a new adventure and reveals species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. Yet beyond its beauty, Madagascar is a land of incredible potential—filled with resilient communities, rich natural resources, and opportunities to create lasting impact.

ANKILAHILA COASTAL & CONSERVATION PROJECT
The Red Island Restoration team, in partnership with the Accelerated Restoration Collaborative, is working alongside local communities along Madagascar’s northwest coast through an “Employ to Restore” methodology—creating jobs that directly support ecosystem restoration. By employing local men and women to plant and nurture hundreds of millions of trees, “Employ to Restore” restores critical landscapes while providing stable income and economic opportunity.
Through this work, families are gaining access to education, healthcare, stable income, and new opportunities to build brighter futures for their children. Entire communities are experiencing renewed hope as restored environments create the foundation for long-term prosperity. Madagascar stands as a powerful example of what is possible when people and organizations come together with a shared vision. By partnering in the restoration and development of this extraordinary island, individuals and companies have the opportunity to help protect one of the world’s greatest natural treasures while empowering communities and creating lasting change for generations to come.
